Google is testing a new feature, dubbed Guacamole — that will allow you to talk to the Google Assistant without having to say “Ok Google” or “Hey Google.”
9to5Google has discovered this new option in the Google Assistant application settings on Android that would emulate this feature.
Details on how this option might work are limited at the moment. The description of the feature in the app setting reads: ‘Skip saying “Hey Google” for help with quick tasks.’ According to 9to5Google, the Guacamole is intended to support voice commands for alarms, calls, and timers without first saying “Hey Google.”
‘A ringing alarm can be canceled by just saying “Stop” or “Snooze,” while “Answer/decline the call” will work for incoming calls. You can naturally just say the command without having to first say “Hey Google.”‘
Of course, it is a feature in development since it cannot be activated at the moment, although the setting appears to some people.
It is possible that Google will reveal more details about this new function of the Google Assistant during the next edition of Google I/O, the event for developers focused on the North American company’s platforms. This will start on May 18 and, due to the current situation, will be completely online.
