After iOS 14.2 Update Several Users Faces Battery Drain Problems On iPhone

Anyone using an old iPhone or iPad with iOS 14.2 or iPadOS 14.2 seems to have a massive battery drain issue on some devices.

On the forum of Apple developers and Reddit, several users are reporting problems indicating battery drain on some Apple devices that occur following iOS 14.2. The users also report — rapid battery consumption and longer charging times than usual.

Some users have even reported a 50% drop in charge in less than half an hour or experience drops of 5% in a few minutes of not, particularly intense use. Even when making a phone call, the falling battery level should be visible on display.

It seems that some older models such as iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPhone 6S, and iPhone SE of the first generation are affected by the problem. IPad Pro 2018 also seems to exhibit the same misbehavior.

Apple released iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 two weeks after iOS 14.1 and iPadOS 14.1. There is currently no indication to suggest that the issues have been fixed in version 14.2.1. Apple has already released the public beta versions of iOS 14.3 and iPad OS 14.3 and may make a fix with the release of the final version of this update.
