Windows 11 will not be able to install on a computer if the user refuses to sign up for a Microsoft account. It all started with basic Windows 11 Home, and now Microsoft intends to introduce this limitation in the Pro version of its system.
Microsoft confirms this in the patch notes for the update, which is currently in the insider preview phase — “Similar to Windows 11 Home edition, Windows 11 Pro edition now requires internet connectivity during the initial device setup (OOBE) only. If you choose to setup device for personal use, MSA will be required for setup as well.” Similar changes will also be made to the Windows Insider Program.
The innovation was implemented in Build 22557. There is a possibility that very soon it may become part of the stable version of the operating system. The only option for “rescue” may be to install an early version of the OS, where there is no such strict restriction.
