OnePlus, well known for its premium smartphones, has joined the tablet market with the launch of its first tablet, the OnePlus Pad. OnePlus Pad is revolutionary in many ways and provides a distinct experience compared to other tablets on the market.
OnePlus Pad sports a CNC-machined aluminium alloy frame and a 2.5D curved glass screen with a high screen-to-body ratio. The Halo Green colour finish is unique, and the “bulged frame” is meant to be comfortable to hold for long periods. The tablet comes with a central back camera, which differs from the usual and should allow for improved picture-taking.
The OnePlus Pad is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 CPU and has up to 12 GB of RAM, making multitasking a breeze. The tablet’s battery is notable for its 9510 mAh capacity and 67W SuperVOOC quick charge, which allows it to be fully recharged in 80 minutes. The tablet’s 11.61-inch 2.8K IPS display has a resolution of 2800 x 2000 pixels, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and supports Dolby Vision and HDR 10+. Completing the multimedia section, it is compatible with Dolby Atmos and OnePlus’ omnidirectional sound field technology.
The package offers two variants, Wi-Fi and 5G, as well as Bluetooth 5.1 and mini-jack input for headphones, while for the cameras, there is a 13 MP main sensor with LED flash and an 8 MP selfie camera.
The OnePlus Pad runs Android 13 with a custom Oxygen OS 13 shell and is optimised to run 24 applications in the background using the RAM-Vita feature. The OnePlus Stylo and Magnetic Keyboard, both offered separately, are compatible with the tablet. It is also intended to transfer data to OnePlus smartphones, removing the need for a second SIM card.
The OnePlus Pad will be available in April, and the price is yet to be revealed. The tablet is a different step forward for OnePlus, which aspires to develop a comprehensive ecosystem of devices similar to that of Apple and Samsung.
