World’s First 5G Smartphone Spotted on Twitter

Qualcomm could soon announce World’s first 5G smartphone.

However 5th generation mobile network or 5G is still in the research stage and companies like Nokia and Qualcomm showed some advancements in the race.

But recently one of the Qualcomm employees posted image of a smartphone that claimed to be, “the world’s first 5G smartphone”.

Sherif Hanna, Qualcomm’s Marketing lead for LTE and 5G NR modems, tweeted the picture with a caption which read: “Hard to believe that I have the world’s first 5G smartphone in my hand!”.

From the glimpse, it looks like Qualcomm 5G smartphone appears to feature a dual camera with a dual LED flash setup. And also you can see Qualcomm Snapdragon logo at the back. Sheriff Hanna alos netioned in the conversation thread that, the device also is designed to support multi-mode 2G/3G/4G/5G.

According to Digit, the phone is a prototype of Qualcomm’s first mmWave 5G reference design. It was designed to allow the company to test and optimize their 5G mmWave performance within the constraints of a mobile form factor.

Earlier this week, Qualcomm announced the first successful demonstration of a 5G data connection on a single-chip 5G modem — the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem. In the demo, Qualcomm was able to establish a 5G connection with greater than 1GB per second download speeds and an over-the-air connection using a tiny 28 GHz mmWave antenna module.
