Xiaomi Unveils Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro Powered with HyperOS, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and Leica Cameras

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagships, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Featured with a trio package — HyperOS, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and Leica cameras to provide the Xiaomi 14 series next-level of performance.

HyperOS Skin

HyperOS, Xiaomi’s newly minted operating system, is set to replace MIUI in its upcoming devices, starting with the Xiaomi 14 series. Developed in-house, HyperOS is based on Android and a proprietary operating system called Vela. Unlike MIUI, HyperOS aims to offer a unified experience with seamless integration with over 200 categories of Xiaomi devices, including smartphones, tablets, connected homes and even cars.

According to Xiaomi, the new OS takes up just 8.75 GB of storage space, which is less than even iOS, which requires approximately 11 GB. The new OS offers a plethora of customization options, allowing users to choose clock designs for the lock screen and add various widgets to the home screen. It also features a revamped quick settings panel and shortcuts, making the interface more intuitive than ever.

HyperOS comes with redesigned apps and new features. For instance, the weather app now has new animations depending on the current weather conditions. The gallery app has also received a significant update, now featuring AI generative functions that allow users to change the backgrounds of images.

It also introduces new services like HyperConnect, a control center similar to Apple Home, compatible even with third-party devices. It also features HyperMind, an AI-powered assistant capable of text generation, document translation, and more.

HyperOS will initially be available on the Xiaomi 14 series but will eventually roll out to other Xiaomi devices. The update will be carried out in phases, prioritizing newer models.
