Apple Working On Two Foldable iPhones: But They Wouldn’t Arrive This Year

There have been rumors of foldable iPhones for years. Recently we get to know the company has registered a patent on a folding iPhone with a ‘self-healing’ display

And again, another Apple patent has been surfaced in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, describes a device with a folding screen where the “first and second portions of an electronic device housing for the device can be joined by a hinge”.

Apple Working On Two Foldable iPhones

For months there has been speculation about an iPhone with two screens joined by a hinge, the same form factor as that of Microsoft’s Surface Duo. In fact, the leaker Jon Prosser had already talked about this prototype in June and this fact would confirm the existence of this device.

According to MacRumors, Apple is currently working with up to two prototypes of foldable iPhones. Two prototypes that also would have passed internal durability tests carried out at Foxconn’s factory in Shenzhen, China.

A leaked report on this talks about two prototypes with two different form factors; one with two screens joined with a hinge, like the Microsoft Surface Duo, and another shell type, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

According to Prosser, we won’t see Apple’s folding iPhone until at least 2022.
