Asus 360Hz display is the new fastest gaming monitor in the world

Asus has introduced the ROG Swift PG259QN, the new fastest gaming monitor in the world — reaching a refresh rate of 360Hz, something unheard of until now.

The ROG Swift PG259QN is a 24.5-inch model with an IPS panel capable of displaying 16.7 million colors that reach 360Hz at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels — means the gaming monitor is capable of changing the image about 360 times every second.

However, this only works via Displayport 1.4. With HDMI 2.0, only 240Hz is possible. The maximum brightness is 400 candela per square meter; support for HDR10 is given. There is a pulsating backlight (Ultra Low Motion Blur) to increase the sharpness of the movement.

There is a module for Nvidia G-Sync in the display, which adapts the panel’s frequency to the frame rate of the graphics card. Asus points out that a custom heatsink was developed to cool the chip in the G-Sync module. The manufacturer does not say whether this works passively or whether a fan is installed.

The ROG Swift PG259QN is height-adjustable, tiltable, and rotatable, and it also has a pivot function. In addition to two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, the monitor has a 3.5 mm jack socket.

The ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN will be available in September 2020 for $699.
