Bing Reaches 100 Million Daily Users With The ChatGPT-Powered Chat Feature

Microsoft’s Bing search engine has reached a significant milestone of 100 million daily active users. This is a remarkable achievement considering that Bing has been under the radar for over a decade since its launch in 2009.

Microsoft recently launched the AI-powered Bing Chat feature, which seems to have contributed significantly to the increased usage of Edge, Microsoft’s default browser for Windows 10/11. The new Bing Chat feature is a unique value proposition that combines search, answers, chat, and creation into one experience.

The AI model, Prometheus, has made Bing’s search results more relevant, attracting more users. Additionally, chat AI has become a popular feature among Bing users. About one-third of Bing preview users use the chat AI to make daily inquiries, with an average of three chats per session. Furthermore, in 15% of all chat sessions, people use Bing to generate new content.

Bing’s popularity has also reached new levels with the arrival of Bing’s AI chatbot on mobile, resulting in a sixfold increase in daily active users. However, according to StatCounter, Bing’s market share is less than 3% and has a long way to go before it can significantly overtake Google, which currently has over 90% market share.

While the AI-powered Bing Chat feature has shaken Google’s backbone, Microsoft faces problems with AI chatbots that must be addressed. Despite this, Microsoft’s continued efforts to reinvent search with its unique value proposition of combining search, answer, chat, and create into one experience, make Bing an exciting search engine to watch out for in the future.
