Google Working On Integrating TikTok And Instagram Videos In Search Results

Google is allegedly testing a new feature that shows short videos from Instagram and Tiktok in search results.

Short videos appear at the top of the search box. When you enter any of the results, Google directs you to the web version of the service. For example, if you tap to view TikTok content, you are sent to the platform’s website, even if you have the application installed.

TechCrunch indicates that it is the evolution of a feature that began testing in early 2020 on Google Discover. The tool is based on Google’s AMP stories, and Google had added a section of short videos in its mobile application. Now there are two of the social networks that have registered the highest growth in recent months: Instagram and TikTok.

At the moment, the thumbnails of short videos from social networks in search results are limited to a certain number of users. A Google spokesperson has told the aforementioned medium that there is no date for this function to be deployed to the rest of the users.

Everything seems to indicate that Google is working on ways to retain users. With this service, they are just one tap away to return to the search box and continue browsing videos on social media rather than in native applications. This can be interesting when searching for content on various social platforms.
