OnePlus Unveils Concept Phone with Liquid Cooling System at MWC 2023

OnePlus showed their concept phone, the “OnePlus 11 Concept,” which has a liquid cooling technology named “Active CryoFlux”, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The cooling technology based on liquid cooling may lower the maximum temperature by up to 2.1 degrees Celsius while increasing the number of frames per second in games by 3 to 4 fps. It can also reduce charging time by 30 to 45 seconds by lowering the temperature by up to 1.6 degrees Celsius during charging.

The “Active CryoFlux” cooling system circulates heat dissipation liquid. It circulates heat away from the phone’s key components using industrial piezoceramic micropumps coupled to two diaphragm lines on the back panel. The heat dissipation system is displayed via a translucent blue light on the rear cover of the smartphone.

Although the cooling process of the ideal phone is similar to that of liquid cooling in desktop computers, the absence of a radiator or fan raises concerns about its cooling effectiveness. It is unknown whether OnePlus will implement the Active CryoFlux cooling mechanism in production devices or whether it is only a concept design.

OnePlus’ Active CryoFlux cooling solution, which provides superior performance and longer battery life, might be a major change in the smartphone business. It may also distinguish OnePlus from other smartphone makers, allowing them to compete in the high-end smartphone market. But OnePlus must address the cooling mechanism’s limitations and give its users a viable solution.

The Active CryoFlux cooling mechanism on the OnePlus 11 Prototype phone has the potential to be a breakthrough in smartphone technology. However, it remains to be seen whether it will be used in future OnePlus models or simply as a prototype.
