The hacker collective Anonymous announces cyberattacks against the Russian government in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
The hacker collective announced on Thursday evening that they are now “in a cyberwar with Russia.”
The Anonymous collective said on social media that it had launched a series of attacks on state-controlled broadcaster Russia Today, government websites and other sensitive websites, which have already been confirmed by the victims.
Anonymous condemns the invasion, saying the goal now is to help the people of Ukraine. The message was announced through several channels. The operation goes by the name of #OpRussia.
Currently, the attacks are aimed at the Russian administration, but it is inevitable that the private sector will also be hit.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has been hit by hacker attacks targeting the country’s digital infrastructure for weeks. According to the American and British governments, these should come from Russia.
