WhatsApp announced the arrival of five new features in the coming weeks

Facebook owned popular messaging app WhatsApp has been continuously adding new features and improvements to the platform. And recently, the company has announced some new features expected to be released soon to its two billion user base.

The new features include support for animated stickers, dark mode on WhatsApp Web, and introducing QR Codes for users to add new contacts seamlessly or to share their own.

Last year, WhatsApp activated stickers to express your mood in a creative way explicitly. Now, what’s better than stickers — I mean static stickers — of course, Animated stickers. Recently added in the beta versions WhatsApp 2.20.195.1 for Android and WhatsApp 2.20.70.26 for iOS, Animated stickers will soon arrive on the stable version in the coming weeks.

At the moment, the native sticker store contains only one animated sticker package, “Playful Piyomaru”, but it is likely that after the roll-out, many more will arrive before the release of the functionality to the public. According to rumors not yet officially confirmed, the company would also be working on the implementation of stickers with loop playback

Dark mode on WhatsApp Web is another notable feature that the company is going to launch soon. But tech-savvy were already using WhastAPp Web dark mode a while by modifying the HTML code of the page, but now it will be much easier to do it. Just go to Settings and activate the dark theme.

By introducing QR codes, WhatsApp now eases up the task of adding a new contact or share your own. Now you no longer have to enter the number manually, now you just have to scan the QR code of the user.

Soon in WhatsApp, you can also expect improvements to group video calls. Earlier, WhatsApp introduced the feature to add up to eight people on a video call. With the upcoming update, you can maximize a particular contact’s video to the full screen by only tapping on the person’s call.

WhatsApp has also announced it will soon add disappearing status for KaiOS — the function that allows users to share updates to the status for 24 hours.

Now regarding the releasing date of the new feature — unfortunately, a certain date is not yet there, but the guys at WaBetaInfo are pretty sure that it will happen shortly.
