The BlackBerry is all set to return to the smartphone market from 2021 with its classic physical keyboard and support for the new 5G connection standard.
Smartphones with a real keyboard would soon be available again.
The new owner of the legendary brand, OnwardMobility, announced the launch of new BlackBerry smartphones equipped with the Android operating system and designed for business users. The device will be available in the first half of 2021 in North America and Europe.
Last February, the Canadian company announced the end of the production of its iconic smartphones. After months of uncertainty, the agreement reached between OnwardMobility, BlackBerry, and the Chinese manufacturer FIH Mobile mark the rebirth.
Until the end of August 2020, the trademark rights for BlackBerry smartphones are held by TCL, which has sold BlackBerry smartphones with Android in recent years. At the beginning of the year, TCL announced that it would soon stop producing new BlackBerry smartphones because the license for the use of the brand name ends on August 31, 2020.
BlackBerry was one of the smartphone pioneers long before Apple significantly changed the market with the first iPhone. From the beginning, BlackBerry smartphones were usually characterized by a hardware keyboard, and they are said to have been particularly secure.
