WhatsApp has been working on multi-device support and multimedia messages that self-destruct for quite some time.
It seems that, according to WABetaInfo, multi-device support — the new feature that allows to use the same account on multiple devices is in the final stage of testing. Besides, the instant messaging app is also testing the ability to send multimedia messages that self-destruct in its latest beta v2.20.201.1.
The new multi-device support will allow us to have our WhatsApp account open on four different devices at the same time, and on these connected devices, users can synchronize all conversations with messages and attachments in realtime.
WhatsApp is working differently from what we usually see in other apps when it comes to the self-destructing message feature. While other applications allow you to set dates or timers for these messages to self-destruct, WhatsApp goes further. The message will disappear once the multimedia file is viewed, and at the same time, the recipient leaves the chat. The multimedia content also be removed from the recipient’s device, so the recipient cannot keep it in any way.
Although there is no screen capture detection function or feature that prevents the user from taking screenshots, therefore, a user could take a screenshot of the received image for later use.
Most of these functions are already implemented, so it would be a short time before they reached WhatsApp.
