Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G , its new flagship processor. The SoC is presently the most powerful mobile chip, designed for gaming.
The architecture of the Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G remains substantially the same as the predecessor Snapdragon 865. Although there are three key improvements, Qualcomm integrated into new Snapdragon 865 Plus are:
The Kryo 585 Prime core (with Cortex-A77 core) now works at 3.1 GHz clock speed, against the 2.84 GHz of standard 865, resulting in a 10 percent of extra boost in performance gaming and AI applications.
The GPU has also been enhanced, which remains an Adreno 650 but with a rendering speed increased by 10%, probably following a slight increase in operating frequency.
And finally, Californian chipmaker added compatibility for Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 connectivity suite, with support for WiFi 6E (WiFi 6 extended up to 6 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.2.
During the launch of the new SoC, Qualcomm also announced the first two smartphones that will integrate the new chipsets — ASUS ROG Phone 3 and Lenovo Legion.
So July will, therefore, be the debut month of Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G, but it is certain that in the following months, there will be many other flagship devices that will come to market with this new SoC.
