Google is working on its own smartwatch under the code name Rohan. According to Business Insider and The Verge, sources close to the company reports smartwatch could hit the market as the Pixel Watch in 2022.
The smartwatch should be developed by Google’s Pixel Hardware Department, Fitbit — acquired by Google for $2.1 billion — should not be involved in the development. Although, Google would take advantage of the purchase of Fitbit to add unique functions and thus integrate the benefits of that company in its first watch.
Also, Pixel Watch would carry Wear OS 3, a platform developed in conjunction with Samsung and with an Android smartphone. The data collected by the watch in terms of physical condition could be reviewed at any time, being able to fully monitor the user’s health.
Google will undoubtedly choose to equip the latest Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC. However, there are already some who point to the possible integration of their own processor with a retouched version of Google Tensor for Pixel smartphones.
Google is going to be extremely ambitious with this watch, targeting the Apple Watch directly.
Regarding the design, there are not too many clues beyond some renderings that Jon Prosser, a famous technology leaker, has released on his Front Page Tech portal.
