Qualcomm Partners With Meta For The Chips Development Of VR Devices

At IFA 2022, Meta has signed an agreement with Qualcomm to create chipsets for the next generation of Oculus Quest series VR headsets.

The two companies had previously collaborated on products such as the Meta Quest 2, but “this agreement solidifies our mutual commitment to deliver multiple generations of premium devices and experiences powered by custom VR platforms for years to come.”

We are working with Qualcomm on custom virtual reality chips — powered by the Snapdragon XR platform and technology — for future Quest products,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Meta.

Zuckerberg said that the collaboration will help in the development of his metaverse project. According to him, the metaverse is still in its early stages of development, and over time, it is necessary to simplify VR gadgets in order to use them more actively.
