1. Java

Java is a set of several computer software and specifications developed by James Gosling, Sun Microsystems, later acquired by Oracle Corporation, that provides a system for developing application software and deploying it in a cross-platform computing environment.  Despite security loop-holes that follows the Java Programming Language since beginning it tops the list. It has shown a decline in demand which is nearly 11% in the last quarter.

2. C/C++/C#

C is an old systems programming language (all the way from the 60s), created by Dennis Ritchie (RIP) for AT&T/Bell Labs and their UNIX system. It’s very low level and works like computers actually work. It’s also very very fast because of that.

C++ is an improved version of C created by Bjarne Stroustrup in the 80s, it was originally just C with classes and object oriented, but nowadays it’s a huge and complicated language. It’s also a superset of C, so all valid C code is valid C++ (the other way doesn’t work though). Still very fast.

C# is Microsoft’s language for the .NET Framework. The syntax itself looks like C and C++ but the language itself is totally different. It’s much higher level (easier to use, does more things for you). It’s very similar to Java, but has some more features. Not as fast.

3. Python

Python is a widely used general-purpose, high-level programming language designed by Guido van Rossum.  Python’s elegant syntax and dynamic typing, together with its interpreted nature, make it an ideal language for scripting and rapid application development in many areas on most platforms. Having a growth in demand of up to 7% in the last quarter it comes at number three.

4. Perl

Perl is a well-established programming language designed by Larry Wall, that has been developed through the time and effort of countless free software programmers into an immensely powerful tool that can be used on practically every operating system in the world. Perl stands fourth in the list. The Growth in demand for Perl has gone up to 9% in the last quarter.

5. PHP

PHP is a server-side scripting language designed for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language designed by Rasmus Lerdorf. PHP was installed on more than 240 million websites (39% of those sampled) and 2.1 million web servers. 6. JavaScript

JavaScript is a high level, dynamic, untyped, and interpreted programming language designed by Brendan Eich. Alongside HTML and CSS, it is one of the three essential technologies of World Wide Web content production; the majority of websites employ it and it is supported by all modern web browsers without plug-ins. It stands tall at position six. It has shown a increase in demand by 3% in the last quarter.

7. Embedded Development Skills

Embedded development skills in programming is like coding a computer software to control machines or devices that are not typically thought of as computers.
