Reddit Talk: Reddit Will Also Copy Clubhouse And Its Social Network Model

The extreme success of Clubhouse has caused absolutely all the competitors in this spectrum to copy its formula for audio rooms — TwitterInstagramTelegram…now it’s Reddit’s turn.

Reddit has presented a sneak preview of its Clubhouse alternative called Reddit Talk. The new feature lets you host live audio conversations in your communities so that you be able to speak by voice with other people on a subreddit in real-time.

This feature is still in the testing phase and is limited only to moderators of subreddits. However, Reddit has already given many details of its operation.

Reddit Talk works very similarly to the Clubhouse audio rooms, no matter how much Reddit tries to differentiate its version from the original. And one of the keys is that Reddit will use the subreddits or communities within Reddit as audio rooms. One user will speak in real-time, and the rest of the listeners will be able to listen to them and intervene.

The hosts of these rooms can invite users to speak and act as speakers, mute them, and remove them from the room if they want to. The application on iOS and Android allows you to react through emojis, and listeners have the ability to press a button to raise their hand and let the host speak.

For now, moderators who want to try Reddit Talk will have to join a waiting list to access and test them. The topics that can be covered in these discussions will largely depend on the communities that want to adopt them. According to Reddit, this ranges from “Q&As, AMAs, lectures, sports-radio-style discussions, community feedback sessions, or simply to give community members a place to hang out.”
