Samsung Is Developing An Application For Self-Repair Devices

Samsung Self Repair Assistant

Samsung decided to make life easier for ordinary users and is planning to release an application to help users independently repair their devices at home. Apple and Google have similar programs, but none of the companies has an application.

Samsung has applied for registration of the trademark Self Repair Assistant, which was found in the United States Patent and Trademark Office ( USPTO) database. The document states that the service is intended to provide consulting and information services related to self-installation, self-repair, maintenance, and configuration of devices such as smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, and headphones.

A few months ago, Samsung launched a self-service appliance repair program in the United States. Its essence lies in the fact that users can now buy spare parts and tools for servicing gadgets at home. The company developed this project together with iFixit. Now, the digital giant has taken on the creation of the Self Repair Assistant application.

At first, the application will only contain data on a few flagship models, but we can expect a wider list of solutions in the future. There is no release date yet.

Build a Simple Data Grid with Handsontable

Simple Data Grid

Since data is the essence of the majority of web applications, tools for its visualization and manipulation are invaluable. While creating a simple data grid is not challenging, making it highly functional or scalable requires deep programming knowledge.

Fortunately, Handsontable makes it possible for companies to build and deploy high-performing data grids fast. Let’s see how Handsontable simplifies the work of developers and check the example of creating a React data grid with this API.

Handsontable – Simplicity Combined with Advanced Possibilities

If you need more functionality than many basic ready-to-use solutions provide, adopting Handsontable for your work will be the right choice. It will help you avoid the costly and time-consuming development of your own data grid API . Handsontable supports creating pure JavaScript, Vue 2, Vue 3, Angular and React data grids, which will give their end users an experience similar to the traditional Excel spreadsheets.

Handsontable comes with everything required for effective and stable work with data regardless of its volume. This API features powerful scalability for all of its tasks including data retrieving, binding and visualization as well as sorting and validation.

Handsontable Example: Your First React Data Grid

You can create a React data grid with Handsontable using the official Handsontable for React wrapper. To start working with Handsontable for React, you should install the library with the npm command. Then, you can import Handsontable into your project and use it in your codebase.

All it takes to build a simple React data grid is using the predefined createSpreadsheetData function and passing the number of rows and columns as its arguments within a class constructor. Now, you can render your spreadsheet.

From here, you can add any functionality you need to your data grid. For instance, you can quickly create a set of external checkboxes to change the settings of your table’s appearance.

Handsontable supports configuration options, which can be passed to your code as an object or as individual props for HotColumn and HotTable components. You can customize grids, columns, rows and cells.

Handsontable with HyperFormula – Leveling Up Your Data Grid

HyperFormula extends the functionality of Handsontable even more by offering tools for calculation to its users. HyperFormula is based on TypeScript and suitable for projects supported by Node.js from the back-end side. HyperFormula can be used with JavaScript, React, Vue and Angular.

Currently, HyperFormula has over 380 built-in functions with the syntax compatible with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. They can be used for handling mathematical, trigonometrical, statistical, logical, financial, engineering calculations and much more.

Using Handsontable with HyperFormula will give users more possibilities for working with data turning regular spreadsheets into smart documents, online calculators or computation notebooks.

LastPass Hacked Again: It Remains Unclear Which Data Is Affected

Hackers Compromised LastPass

The LastPass app is considered the most popular password manager, boast over 30 million users worldwide, has been hacked for the second time in three months.

The first one happened quite recently, at the end of the summer of 2022 when the hackers managed to steal the technical information of the service and part of its source code through a compromised account of one of the project developers.

The head of the company, Karim Tubba, announced that an unauthorized party got access to some user data. He did not disclose the full extent of this leak and the nature of the leaked data that the hackers could take possession of.

Representatives of the company noted that the attackers managed to gain access to the cloud storage. Surprisingly, the attackers utilized data from the August cyber incident to gain access. LastPass also emphasized that cybercriminals were able to access customer data that was in compromised storage.

However, the passwords should not be affected. LastPass noted that customer passwords have not been compromised and remain securely encrypted, thanks to LastPass’s Zero Knowledge architecture. However, this zero-knowledge architecture does not seem to apply comprehensively, as the data leak shows.

The event was reported to law enforcement, and the corporation engaged the cybersecurity firm Mandiant to investigate it. However, LastPass has admitted that it is not currently aware of the scale of the incident and is investigating what information was stolen during the attack.

The company promised to investigate the reasons for the hacking in as much detail as possible, identify the perpetrators and provide additional information.

Corning Announces Gorilla Glass Victus 2

Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2

Corning Gorilla Glass is used in the displays of many smartphones. With a new glass composition, the new Victus 2 has been announced. It has the same scratch resistance as the original Victus but improves drop performance on rough surfaces like concrete.

According to a large-scale survey conducted by Corning, 84% of consumers in China, India, and the United States, which are said to be the world’s three largest smartphone markets, said that durability is the second most important consideration when purchasing a device after the brand itself.

The first Victus glass launched two years ago claimed the screen could withstand a 2-meter drop, but the new version raises the bar even further. Corning says the goal was to create a durable glass that would better withstand being dropped from waist-height onto a rough surface. Smartphones have evolved a lot and are 15% heavier and 10% larger than they were four years ago, putting more stress on displays.

In laboratory tests, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 survived drops of up to one meter onto a surface miming concrete. It continued to withstand drops of up to 2 meters on simulated asphalt surfaces, maintaining up to four times better scratch resistance than competing aluminosilicates glasses.

There’s no word on which devices will get the Victus 2 display first, with Corning only stating that it’s adopted in over 8 billion devices by over 45 major brands.

How to Prepare a Stunning History PowerPoint Project

Stunning History PowerPoint Project

When it comes to history-related projects, you don’t have to be overly innovative — you should reveal other skills and talents once you encounter such a challenge. To get started, interested pirates have to understand the right structure for their presentation. That’s where advanced and multioptional history PowerPoint templates come in.

It is way simpler to deliver complex social, national, and cultural concepts that stay behind a typical historical event. Here are some simple themes to consider when you don’t know what the best option is. Onwards!

Know Your Audience

As simple as it might sound, this step is frequently overlooked by students and other people who are assigned to prepare such a project. They get so focused on diving deeper into the topic that forget to adapt and adjust the found information to the tastes, knowledge, and skills of the target recipients. It is hard to disagree that undergraduates and professionals will evaluate your effort differently, isn’t it? That’s why you should keep this standard in mind.

Don’t Stick to Simple Topics Only

If you want to avoid debates and discussions with your history PPT template, your task is already failed. Learning this discipline is aimed at motivating the audience to understand how people’s decisions affect their future and more global aspects of human life. If you don’t expect to boost critical thinking and analysis among the presentation recipients, your project goals won’t be fulfilled to the greatest extent possible. The list of must-have themes to talk about would be incomplete without the following:

  • The practice of torture in ancient times was typical, but it has still remained a common way for some modern industries and cultures. What types of torture were present in the past and are there any similarities with contemporary methods? Examine these forms in a global aspect. Give your own perspective on this question and discuss what advantages and negative sides this method might hold.
  • Are there any good sides to wars? One of the most informative discussions to take part in is to discover the negative aspects of World War II. Not only will it work to analyze and describe human casualties, but how different nationality types responded to the war-related aggression. Being held captive in terror regimes is also worth considering.
  • Was the time of the Soviet Union a blessing or disaster for its citizens? What social studies address this problem and how? Find your own opinion on the methods that were used to implement terror and run the local people’s lives. Are there any justifications possible to underpin these acts

People have to learn from the past and not repeat the mistakes of their ancestors. You might influence other individuals through your project, so don’t miss the chance.

Systematization and Organization

Planning your presentation slides is definitely half the battle. You don’t have to create a perfect masterpiece from the first trial. Thanks to templates that are easy and free to download from the Powered Template websites and other providers, you don’t always need to stick to your original plan.

Don’t hesitate to prepare a project text first and look for matching illustration materials. Once you have all the elements at your fingertips, it is simpler to understand what PPT template you need, how many different types of slides it is better to use, and so on.

Wrap It Up

Whatever project idea hits your mind and gets you inspired, it is always important to take decent control over trivial matters like excellent ways to seek trustworthy information, including worthy history PowerPoint templates. Although the events of the past can’t be ambiguous, you can make your story more flexible and versatile through the use of infographics, charts, diagrams, etc. that are provided by modern PPT sample themes.

Elon Musk Revealed That In Six Months Neuralink Will Begin Testing Chips On Humans

Neuralink Human Trials

At an event called “Show and Tell”, Elon Musk announced that his neurotechnology startup, Neuralink, aims to implant one of its devices into the brain of a human being in six months.

During the event, Musk stated that the company had submitted much of the paperwork required for human clinical trials to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates the US medical device market.

Musk assured that the company will proceed with caution. He promised that when implanting the chip in animals in prior trials, all relevant precautions had been taken.

Neuralink’s goal is to develop a device that can be implanted in the brain and used to control a computer or phone via brain activity. Neuralink tested its chips on monkeys in 2019, pigs in 2020, and last year presented a video of a monkey playing a simple game of Pong with the help of an implanted chip.

The Neuralink device is implanted using a robot surgeon invented by the company, which manages to make all of the connections securely in approximately 20 minutes, according to Musk. Inside, an artificial intelligence-trained decoder will translate cerebral activity into a cursor movement or a keystroke.

Top Web Designing Tips to Enhance eCommerce User Experience (UX) in 2023

eCommerce User Experience

If you are an eCommerce business owner or a web developer, you must have come across the term UX (User Experience). You might have even heard people saying that UX matters more than anything else when selling products online.

It is true because if your website has an excellent user experience, it will make customers want to browse through your entire catalog, not just the product they came for initially.

However, if your site has a bad user experience, this will drive customers away from your site and towards competitors’ sites. According to Red Signal, 72% of customers abandon carts because of poor UX.

In this article, we will discuss 5 free web designing tips that will help you enhance the user experience on your eCommerce website so that more visitors find what they need quickly, easily, and enjoyably while browsing through your catalog’s pages.

UX is a Human-Centered Design

UX is a way to make your website more user-friendly and focused on the users’ needs and goals. You can start integrating UX principles into your eCommerce designs now, as long as you understand what makes for a great user experience. The best way to do so is to check some online resources that have UX design for eCommerce explained on their website.

When we use the term “user experience” (UX), we mean how people interact with an interface and how they feel about it. All too often, when we discuss websites or applications with clients, they focus on the aesthetics of their site without considering user experience from their customer’s perspectives. It is why so many great-looking sites fail. They need to consider how people actually use them in real life.

Make Your Navigation Simple

If a user cannot find your navigation, it can be assumed that they will leave your site. The most important thing to remember here is to make navigation simple and easy to use. Consistency across all pages is also necessary for usability. This is where custom website development comes into play, allowing for tailored navigation that matches your brand and user needs.

Consistent navigation is one of the most critical factors in maintaining good UX, especially in eCommerce sites with many options available on any page or screen. When users visit multiple pages within an eCommerce site, they should be able to easily find their way back using the same navigational elements throughout all sections of an online store’s UI.

It’s not enough to have one type of menu at the top. Each category needs its primary navigation bar if you want the optimal user experience within your store. So that customers always know where they are without being distracted by other links and buttons further down on each page or screen they visit while browsing through products or categories within an eCommerce website.

Understand User Psychology

Users are the lifeline of your eCommerce store. You need to understand their psychology and behavior patterns to provide them with a great user experience. The UX design must be intuitive, easy to use, and fast for users to access your website or app. If your users are unsatisfied with their experience on your site, they will move away from it and look for other options that provide better solutions.

Mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives now. According to BankMyCell, there are 6.648 billion mobile users worldwide, which means 83.32% of the global population owns a smartphone

Hence it would be best if you designed user interfaces that are compatible with different devices such as smartphones, tablets or laptops/desktop computers, etc. So everyone can access your eCommerce store anywhere at any time without facing any problems related to compatibility issues between devices like slow loading speed and poor navigation system etc.

Fast and Smooth Loading Pages

Your website should load fast and smoothly. The user experience of every eCommerce site depends on the speed at which it loads. No one likes to wait for more than a few seconds, especially when they cannot do anything else while their browser is loading the page. According to Digital.com, 53% of online shoppers want eCommerce pages to load in 3 seconds or less.

To ensure that your eCommerce site loads quickly, you should use a Content Delivery Network (CDN). A CDN stores copies of all your website’s images and other media files across multiple servers worldwide so people can access them faster from closer locations and reduce latency times.

Provide Related Product Suggestions

Your users are likely not looking to buy one product but maybe two or three. To help them find what they need, you can offer product suggestions based on their search history or similar searches performed by other users.

For example, if a user is looking for a new pair of running shoes and has previously searched for “sneakers” and “running shoes” on your website, show them suggestions for other athletic shoes that might interest them. It will keep them engaged with the site longer. More time spent on your website means more chances for sales.

Google’s Autocomplete feature uses automatic suggestions based on previous searches performed by other users. The function is designed to help people find what they’re looking for faster than ever, so why not utilize it?

Leverage Smart Search and Filters

In eCommerce, it’s vital that your users can find what they’re looking for quickly. That’s why it’s crucial to have a search bar that’s easy to find and always visible. While this should be standard practice in web design, there are still many sites where the search bar is small or hidden away on a sidebar menu. If you want people to use your site, make sure it’s easy.

Besides ensuring that the search box is always visible, consider its design. How long is the input field? Is it easy enough to see? Are there unnecessary words like ‘search’ or ‘go’ cluttering the space?

Finally, provide some filters. It helps customers find exactly what they need faster than scrolling through page after page results. For example, if someone has searched for ‘black sneakers’ but doesn’t have time to sift through every pair of black sneakers on sale today, then filter by size and price range so only qualifying products pop up.

Optimize Your Product Images

The next step to make your eCommerce website more engaging is to optimize product images. The type of image you use for a product can make or break the user experience, so it’s essential to consider which images will work best for your target audience and optimize for them.

The first thing to remember when optimizing your product images is to use high-quality images specific to the needs of each item sold. If you’re selling a pair of jeans, don’t just take any old pictures from Google Images. Instead, get creative and find a photograph that conveys what makes these jeans unique.

In addition, make sure all of your products are clearly visible and manageable when someone looks at them on their phone screen.

Conclusion

User experience (UX) design is a human-centered approach to the practical aspects of digital product development. It’s about enhancing user satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure of interacting with websites. UX generally includes all aspects of a website, including its visual design, content, and functionality.

In conclusion, UX is one of the most critical aspects when designing your website. It’s not just about making sure that users can find their way around. It’s also about making them feel good about what they are doing. That last part is sometimes overlooked by many eCommerce entrepreneurs focused on getting customers in the door rather than keeping them there with a great user experience.

Samsung Unveils GDDR6W Graphics Memory: Double The Performance And Capacity Of GDDR6

Samsung GDDR6W

GDDR memory, double data rate memory for graphics, generally doubles in speed and throughput with each generation but remained at the GDDR6 and GDDR6X levels until the next-generation GDDR7 appeared.

Meanwhile, AMD, along with several other industry giants, brought HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) to the world in 2015 with the Radeon R9 Fury line-up more bandwidth and throughput than the overall power drawn from the total memory footprint.

But now Samsung is trying to fill the gap by claiming that its next-generation GDDR6W memory technology will be smaller than its predecessor, GDDR6, but still deliver nearly the same speed as HBM. Fan-out wafer-level packaging (FOWLP) moves the package from the PCB onto the silicon wafer, similar to HBM.

FOWLP is a technology that mounts memory chips directly on silicon wafers instead of PCBs.At that time, by applying RDL (redistribution layer) technology, finer wiring patterns become possible. The package is reduced, and heat dissipation is improved.

Not only has the capacity doubled, but the bandwidth has also doubled due to the larger memory interface size. According to Samsung, using a 512-bit bus and 22Gbps GDDR6W memory achieves a total throughput of 1.4TB/s, which is very close to the 1.6TB/s bandwidth with 3.2Gbps HBM2E memory.

High-performance, high-capacity, high-bandwidth memory solutions help bring the virtual world closer to reality. To meet these market demands, Samsung has developed the industry’s first next-generation graphics DRAM technology, GDDR6W (x64).

GDDR6 has already seen significant improvements since its launch. Last July, Samsung developed the industry’s fastest graphics DRAM, 24Gbps GDDR6 memory. GDDR6W doubled its bandwidth (performance) and capacity while remaining the same size as GDDR6. Thanks to the unchanged footprint, the new memory chips can easily be put into the same production process that customers used for GDDR6 by using the FOWLP structure and stacking technology, reducing manufacturing time and cost.

The graphics DRAM capacity has risen from 16Gb to 32Gb, and the bandwidth and I/O count have doubled from 32 to 64. In other words, compared to traditional technologies, the area required for memory has decreased by 50%.

In cooperation with GPU partners, Samsung announced that it would expand the application of GDDR6W to small form factor devices such as notebook PCs and new high-performance accelerators used for AI and HPC applications.
