Goodbye To The Blue Screen Of Death With Windows 11: Now, It Will Be The Black Screen Of Death

Black Screen Of Death

At the end of June, Microsoft presented Windows 11, its new operating system that leaves behind an era marked by Windows 10 and that will officially arrive at the end of the year. Among integrating a lot of features in next-gen Windows, Microsoft also did a slight modification to the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) in Windows 11 — now, it will be the Black Screen of Death.

Windows ‘screen of death’ refers to the blue screen displayed by Microsoft’s operating system to indicate that the device has experienced a problem and needs to be rebooted was introduced in Windows 1.0. However, with Windows 11, blue is left aside, and black is chosen.

Although it has changed its tone throughout the versions of the operating system, until now, it had always been presented with a bluish tone. In Windows 11, however, the screen background is black. It retains the sad face that the company included in Windows 8, the white text and the QR code that allows more information to be obtained when scanned through the camera.

Apart from that, there’s another interesting change to the blue — or black — screen of death. In Windows 11, the word “Your PC” has been replaced by “Your Device“.

The black screen of the death has appeared in the beta version of Windows 11. It is not clear if Microsoft will definitely change it for this new shade in the final version or if it will keep the classic blue color. The black hue matches the minimalist aesthetic of the new operating system. In fact, the boot screen also has a dark background.

Healthcare Cybersecurity: Challenges and Solutions

Technology in Healthcare

Modern technology has paved the way for many innovative solutions that have changed the way we live today — from boosting accessibility to widespread digitalization. But despite its positive impact on the development of our society, it has also brought some unique challenges to the table, especially when it comes to our healthcare system.

Recently, researchers found a sudden surge in healthcare cyberattacks by over 55% in 2020, which could potentially affect approximately 26 million people in the United States. Hackers often use the data they have gathered from the medical records to steal identities or set up scams, which have created a $13.2 billion industry, with an average data breach cost of $49 per record. On the other hand, 67.3% of these incidents were caused by hacking and other IT exploitation, wherein 24.1 million of those were directly related to these attacks.

Although cyberattacks in the healthcare industry have already existed in the past, the number of cases only began to increase in 2018. Unfortunately, the spike in sensitive data loss is mostly linked to the cloud migration, software development, and digital transformation of healthcare records. To overstep security issues, there are many software development companies that offer healthcare solutions. The big question is, how should the healthcare-tech industry address these cybersecurity problems?

Employees’ Access to Healthcare Information

Mishandling of patients’ records, which often contain personal, medical, financial, and other sensitive data, is probably the most common threat in the realm of healthcare cybersecurity. Since employees often have free access to these important documents, they can easily steal the data in the records or withing the frame of medical data analysis software without raising any suspicions. Sadly, they can walk away with confidential information, including credit card numbers, as well as social security and demographic details.

To avoid this issue, educating employees is a must to help secure all of the healthcare information that the patients have entrusted to them. Conducting regular briefings and training sessions, for instance, are an effective way to teach staff the importance of cyber safety.

Phishing Attempts and Malware

It only takes a seemingly legitimate link to plant malicious scripts on a device or steal important login credentials, especially when hackers utilize sophisticated systems or schemes. Typically, these technophiles use this technique by sending emails to those who mistakenly click the bait links.

As a rule of thumb, reputable companies do not ask for sensitive information through email. Thus, healthcare techs should recognize these cybercrime tactics right away to avoid dealing with much bigger problems later on. Establishing both online and physical security protocols is also necessary to ensure that nobody will mess up with the patients’ records.

Outdated Software

Hackers will take advantage of any opportunity to steal information from any flawed system with outdated software or unsecured access points. The easiest way to prevent these cybercriminals from their wicked plan is to make it a habit to update the software installed on your machines or devices. If possible, create a two-factor authorization or change your passwords regularly.

Unsecured or Lost Mobile Devices

Unlike other computing machines, mobile devices are more prone to malware and cybersecurity attacks since they often do not meet safety standards. Once lost or stolen, these devices may also end up in the wrong hands, which may put the system in jeopardy. Moreover, unused devices for disposal may pose some risks since hackers may try to salvage the information stored in them.

Thus, having strict rules regarding the use of mobile devices should be clearly emphasized to users and employees. Proper disposal of the hardware that contains medical records should also be observed to keep all the data safe.

While getting rid of cyber hacking may seem like a tough shell to crack, securing healthcare information is possible by paying more attention to the safety protocols and educating employees about proper data management.

OnePlus Will Merge OxygenOS With OPPO’s ColorOS To Improve Efficiency

Merge OxygenOS With ColorOS

After the announcement of the integration of OnePlus within OPPO, now comes the confirmation that its interface, OxygenOS, will also be merged into OPPO’s ColorOS.

Initially, OnePlus reassured its fans that OxygenOS would not go anywhere. The latest development now suggests that OxygenOS is ready to merge with OPPO’s ColorOS. A piece of news that has come through a message on the company’s forum signed by Gary C himself, OxygenOS product lead, who assures that the two companies are “working on integrating the codebase of OxygenOS and ColorOS.”

In this way, Android-based operating systems will come together to become a single platform, promising to make it stronger and more stable. It is worth noting that the operating system will continue to be distributed under the name OxygenOS.

The determination of OnePlus and Oppo to create a single Android-based operating system is as logical as could be expected. Nor will it imply anything exaggeratedly new, taking into account that OnePlus phones were sold in China with ColorOS and not with OxygenOS.

Although, one of the fears of users is that OxygenOS, the praised interface of OnePlus, will end up disappearing, as has Realme UI, which is currently nothing but renames OPPO’s interface, ColorOS.

Qualcomm Aims To Challenge Apple, Intel and AMD With Its ARM Notebook SoC

Qualcomm Takes Over Nuvia

Qualcomm has not been satisfied with its position in the market for smartphones and tablets for a long time and that it intends to make the leap into the world of the PC.

After the acquisition of Nuvia, Qualcomm aims to once again become the benchmark for ARM SoCs for laptops and smartphones thanks to customized cores. The goal is to steal market share from Intel and AMD and to do better than Apple, which has amazed us with the M1, starting as early as 2022.

Cristiano Amon, the new CEO of Qualcomm, told Reuters that next year the company will have a notebook chip that can compete with Apple’s MacBook solutions.

So far, Qualcomm had tried to accommodate a smartphone SoC with only minor adjustments in the notebook, with rather mixed results. Thanks to Nuvia’s preparatory work, which Qualcomm paid for $1.4 billion at the beginning of the year, the first chip of this new generation should be available in the notebook in the coming year.

We don’t know, at the moment, anything else. There are no dates, and there are no specifications; there is not even an approximation to the technology that Qualcomm is working on; beyond that, it will obviously be based on ARM.

Qualcomm’s CEO finally rejected a high-end design for in-house server systems. Having failed in the past, Qualcomm no longer wants to go this way with Nuvia. However, the group will make the technologies that Nuvia is developing available to other companies. They can also use this to develop processors that are suitable for cloud servers.

Effects of Technology on Human Interaction

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence or AI

There is no doubt that we are more connected with technology than we ever have been before. Technology has advanced at a rapid pace, and it has completely reshaped the way that society has grown and the way that people behave.

Technology is what allows us to have more frequent and efficient access to different tools and systems. The telephone is a great example.

It was originally used to connect one household to the next, now, a telephone is used to connect people, watch movies, play games, send messages, and even work. The explosion of technology has led to amazing benefits for societies, but it also has had some detrimental effects.

Technology: The Good

Advancements in technology have allowed humankind to profit in several sectors. When talking about the medical field alone, technological advancements have been outstanding. Now, an individual can get a complicated operation through the use of a robotic system.

This technology has allowed for operations that are more efficient and safe. Apart from that, technology has allowed humans to become more globalized. A person is able to talk to a relative or friends from around the world by just using one application.

Apart from that, we are able to use applications to meet new friends, find love, and find work. When it comes to travel, a person can quickly and easily book plane tickets, reserve a hotel and get a rental car with just the use of a small handheld device.

This was a task that a travel agent had to perform in the past, and now with just a few taps, a person can plan an elegant vacation. When it comes to education, the Internet is a never-ending source of educational materials and learning tools. There is basically nothing that you cannot learn to do on the Internet.

Technology: The Bad

When it comes to HCI or Human-Computer Interaction, it has caused several negative effects on society. Some of the effects that come from the overuse of technology may possibly affect the cognitive development of children.

There is a new generation of children who are being raised with technology. Instead of running and playing with friends, many kids stay inside of their house and play video games or watch cartoons on a device.

Apart from that, human relationships have changed drastically. There is a phenomenon called Virtual Distance which basically means that people can be right next to each other, but since they are all on their devices, there is a distance between them.

All of the effects that come from the heightened use of technology over the last decade can not be understood until more time has passed.

Technology and You

The truth is that there are good and bad aspects of technology when it comes to its use in humans. Regardless of what you may believe about technology, it is here to stay.

You, like everyone else, have the responsibility to use technology wisely, and take advantage of its positive aspects, and do your utmost to avoid its negative aspects.

Vivo Patents A Smartphone With A Built-In Tiny Detachable Drone Camera Module

vivo news and stories

The Chinese company Vivo has patented a smartphone equipped with a drone-like flying camera module. The patent has been leaked by Let’s Go Digital, and it puts us before a new technology that would make way for a small flying drone.

The phone has a sizeable screen on the front, while the right flank houses a volume rocker and a power button. Everything seems normal so far. However, at the bottom of the phone, a removable slot houses a flying camera module. According to the patent, the hidden flying camera system includes four fans, three infrared sensors, two cameras (one looks up and the other to the side) and its own battery.

If such a smartphone is released, it will be possible to shoot yourself from afar or fly up to a distant object. However, the patent does not contain information on how the drone will be controlled. It can be assumed that the drone is controlled directly from a smartphone.

As for the drawbacks, this drone would have to be very slim to fit in the body of a smartphone. The lighter the drone’s body, the more prone to wind as well. This would also make it quite difficult to pilot.

Although Vivo is moving forward with nifty camera technology, we don’t see this device launching to consumers anytime soon. It’s cool, but how practical is it really? It seems that the firm wants to bet its claim on this possible sector of devices in the future.

This Changed Everything: WWW Source Code NFT Sold For $5.4 Million

WWW Source Code NFT

Finally, the auction for Sir Tim Berners-Lee’s NFT, which included original files with the source code from the World Wide Web, was closed. The auction ended with a final price of $5,434,500. Yes, almost five and a half million was paid for a package of digital elements that started at $1,000.

The piece, titled “This Changed Everything” includes a time-stamped file consisting of over 9500 lines of source code, a high-fidelity image, a 30-minute animation that reproduces the writing of the code, and a letter written by the Berners-Lee himself. The auction was organized by the famous Sotheby’s house . The auction took place during the last week, from June 23 until this Wednesday 30.

Now, the creator of the WWW will allocate the money raised to charitable causes that he sponsors with his wife.

The NFT auction earned Sir Tim Berners-Lee a significant amount of criticism . However, it was the “father of the World Wide Web” himself who came out at the crossroads in an interview with The Guardian:

This is totally aligned with the values of the web. The questions I’ve got, they said: ‘Oh, that doesn’t sound like the free and open web.’ Well, wait a minute, the web is just as free and just as open as it always was. The core codes and protocols on the web are royalty free, just as they always have been. I’m not selling the web – you won’t have to start paying money to follow linksI’m not even selling the source code. I’m selling a picture that I made, with a Python programme that I wrote myself, of what the source code would look like if it was stuck on the wall and signed by me.”

With its valuation of nearly $5.5 million, Sir Tim Berners-Lee’s NFT outperformed other similar online auctions. In March, Jack Dorsey sold the first tweet in history for $2.9 million. Yet no one has yet come close to the $69 million paid for Beeple’s digital artwork.
