Instagram Will Introduce New Parental Controls On Its Platform

Instagram-new-features

Instagram has introduced new parental control features for the safety of teens on the platform, said the head of the social network, Adam Mosseri.

According to Mosseri, the company has been working for a long time to ensure that minors can work in the application safely. Some tools are scheduled to launch next year.

One of the new measures that will provide greater security among young people is the impossibility of tagging or mentioning minors who do not follow that user. That is if a person tries to tag a minor and he does not follow that account, he will not be able to do so.

Additionally, the user you were trying to tag will not receive any prompts. On the other hand, in January 2022, Instagram will allow mass removal of the content that they have published over time. For example, images, videos, ‘likes’, comments, etc.

Parents and guardians will also have access to tools that will offer better control over what their children do on the platform. In March, Instagram will activate a function that will allow you to know how much time your children spend in the app.

Also, teenagers will be able to inform their parents about their complaints about users — in this case; adults will be able to contact them.

As per the official announcement, “Parents and guardians will be able to see how much time their teens spend on Instagram and set time limits.” Take a Break feature, which Instagram announced earlier, will start to work in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Windows 11 Reintroduce The Ability To Change The Default Browser In A Simple Way

Windows 11 Change The Default Browser

In Windows 11, changing the default browser was made more difficult — instead of using one browser for all web file types, users have to select a browser for each file extension individually.

The community and other browser manufacturers such as Mozilla found this behavior rather questionable at the release of Windows 11. Microsoft is aware of this and is taking another step back in a preview build.

Microsoft appears to have reconsidered and will implement a simple change that will dramatically simplify the user experience.

According to The Verge, developer Rafael Rivera detected that Windows 11 build 22509 — available to members of the Windows Insider program — incorporates a “Set default” button in the Settings window that allows you to change the default browser with just one click. But it’s sure, Microsoft will continue to promote its Edge on Windows 11.

Build 22509 was announced by Microsoft with many new features. It is unusual that a switch such as this, which is important in itself, was not also shown as a big (old) novelty. With Build 22509, the display clock in the taskbar also returns on the second and third monitors. This is also a feature requested by the community.

Although, the button for simply setting the default browser will not appear for non-insiders for the time being.

Pixel Watch: Google Smartwatch With Wear OS Would Arrive In 2022

Google Pixel Watch render

Google is working on its own smartwatch under the code name Rohan. According to Business Insider and The Verge, sources close to the company reports smartwatch could hit the market as the Pixel Watch in 2022.

The smartwatch should be developed by Google’s Pixel Hardware Department, Fitbit — acquired by Google for $2.1 billion — should not be involved in the development. Although, Google would take advantage of the purchase of Fitbit to add unique functions and thus integrate the benefits of that company in its first watch.

Also, Pixel Watch would carry Wear OS 3, a platform developed in conjunction with Samsung and with an Android smartphone. The data collected by the watch in terms of physical condition could be reviewed at any time, being able to fully monitor the user’s health.

Google will undoubtedly choose to equip the latest Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC. However, there are already some who point to the possible integration of their own processor with a retouched version of Google Tensor for Pixel smartphones.

Google is going to be extremely ambitious with this watch, targeting the Apple Watch directly.

Regarding the design, there are not too many clues beyond some renderings that Jon Prosser, a famous technology leaker, has released on his Front Page Tech portal.

FTC Files Lawsuit To Block Nvidia’s Purchase of ARM

ARM Takeover By Nvidia

Nvidia’s purchase of ARM is in serious jeopardy following the filing of a blocking lawsuit by the powerful US Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

In September 2020, Nvidia bought ARM for 40,000 million dollars — although both companies seemed to be clear that the agreement was a done thing, the regulators did not think the same. In fact, more than a year has passed since the announcement, and ARM is still not from Nvidia.

Later we have seen how Google, Microsoft, And Qualcomm oppose ARM takeover by Nvidia. Also, the United Kingdom did not see the deal favorably and how the European Union was also going to investigate the agreement. Now it is the FTC of the United States that says that this looks bad and that the agreement would be anti-competitive.

According to FTC, the purchase would give Nvidia the means to control the supply of chips and designs used by its competitors, which would harm competition and curb competition in various technology sectors — among them the cloud, data centers and autonomous cars. ARM is the one that provides the licenses for the processors used by companies such as Apple, Intel, Samsung, Amazon and Huawei.

Nvidia responded to the lawsuit by stating that “we will work to demonstrate that this transaction will benefit the industry and promote competitiveness.”

Since the deal was announced, Nvidia CEO and co-founder Jensen Huang have said that ARM will not move its UK offices. It has also ensured that it will maintain the relationship with the companies that use its licenses.

How to Automate Testing in the Age of AI’s

AI news and stories

A couple of years ago, Artificial Intelligence was just a dream. However, it has now become a very important part of our lives today to a point that some people cannot imagine life without it.

If you look at today’s innovations such as smartphones, self-driving cars, smartwatches, and devices such as Siri and Alexa among others, you will realize that they are all driven by artificial intelligence.

Imagine visiting a new place without applications such as Google Maps. Imagine a life where you could not get accurate weather predictions before planning your days or weeks ahead. Well, this would be difficult, but thanks to artificial intelligence, you do not need to think about such a life.

AI in Software Development and Testing

Just like artificial intelligence has had a major impact on our lives, it has also influenced how applications are tested. This is where automated software testing comes in. Initially, software developers and testers used manual testing to test the performance, reliability, security, and functionality of their applications.

It consumed a lot of time to test every functionality of an application and was still not reliable since it was prone to errors. There might still be companies that use this type of testing due to many reasons, but they are missing a lot when it comes to the efficiency of their tests.

Artificial intelligence has given birth to automated software testing. This involves the use of testing tools that automate the entire process and come with features that developers can use to streamline the testing process. You can learn more here about automated testing using software testing tools.

There are different ways through which artificial intelligence has fueled automated testing of software applications. Some of them include;

Visual Validation Testing

Artificial intelligence has opened an opportunity for testers to use automated visual testing tools that provide a form of testing based on images. This employs the use of tools that employ machine learning to detect any errors, including those that can be missed easily by the human eye.

For instance, testers need to make sure that all the elements in the user interface of an application have the right color, shape, size and are in the correct position – they do not overlap with other elements. It can take a lot of time if they were to do this manually.

Artificial intelligence, through the use of machine learning, can do this on its own within a very short time and make sure that everything with regard to the UI is tested and meets its expectations.

Writing of Test Cases

One of the biggest achievements when it comes to artificial intelligence in automated software testing has been the ability to automate the process of writing test cases. This has made the entire testing process fast and efficient, reducing the time taken to conduct tests.

Automated testing tools are now powered by artificial intelligence which enables them to learn all the usage scenarios of an application for testing purposes. When learning how the application works, they collect and crawl important data such as the loading time of pages, screenshots, and HTML pages among others.

Within a certain period of time, they collect so much data that they use when training the machine learning model about the expected patterns and the usability of the application. This ensures that reports are generated when these patterns are not met.

Improving Test Reliability

Sometimes when building an application, developers might make changes to pieces of code that have already been tested. This leads to test failures, especially when using manual testing. This forces the testers to write the tests again, something that is not reliable and consumes a lot of time.

However, artificial intelligence has managed to change this. It works by making sure that the code is corrected, made easy to maintain, and more reliable to ensure that testers do not have to write the test cases again when there are changes in code. This is one of the reasons why you need automation testing for your applications.

Conclusion

As a product owner, you need to make sure that your application meets its expectations before it is released to the market. You also need to ensure that you are not spending a lot of money and resources testing your applications. You can do this by embracing AI when testing the applications.

Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and 7c+ Gen 3: Qualcomm Renews Its Bet On Windows ARM Laptops

Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3

Qualcomm has not only taken advantage of the Snapdragon Summit 2021 to present its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for mobile phones and Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 for handhelds. The American company also wanted to unveil the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 — SoCs to power future Windows 11-on ARM laptops.

Already dated for arrival in the next year, the upcoming Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 will offer up to 40% higher single-thread and 85% higher multithreading performance than the current generation, while the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 will offer similar improvements over the entry-level chip of the year.

In short, Snapdragon 8cx is designed for higher performance Windows systems, twhile Snapdragon 7c+ is designed for Chromebooks and entry-level Windows PCs.

Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is manufactured in a 5-nanometer process, and Qualcomm states that the integrated Adreno graphics unit should achieve a 60% higher performance than the previous iGPU.

The performance for artificial intelligence in the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 should amount to 29 TOPS; so far, it was 9 TOPS. An external Snapdragon X65 is used as the 5G modem, and a Fastconnect 6900 chip for WiFi 6E is also included; nine PCIe Gen 3 lanes are available for this. In terms of security, the chip integrates the Pluton approach from Microsoft, as well as the CCA realms from ARMv9.

The Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 was announced as a 6 nm design, it should have a 40% higher CPU, and 35% increased iGPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 7c.

Lenovo and Microsoft have announced as the first partners that they want to use the Snapdragon SoCs. Both the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 will hit the market in early 2022.

Snapdragon G3x Gen 1: Qualcomm With Razer Presents A Portable Console

Snapdragon G3x Gen 1

Qualcomm proposes a leap in gaming hardware with the presentation of the new Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 Gaming Platform. Qualcomm has developed a processor intended for gaming and has teamed up with Razer to build this portable console — the device is currently simply called Snapdragon G3x Handheld Developer Kit.

Snapdragon G3x Handheld Developer Kit

First of all, it is important to remember that Qualcomm already has experience in the world of mobile games from the hand of Snapdragon Elite Gaming. However, the company does not want to get stuck in hardware that is seen only for gaming smartphones, but rather to take advantage of the experience gained to rise to a new level.

Qualcomm did not reveal much about the chip itself, but despite this, they have mentioned the inclusion of an Adreno GPU that allows games to run up to 144 frames per second under the HDR10 standard; and also highlights the compatibility with 5G mmWave and Sub-6 networks, in addition to WiFi 6 and 6E.

In addition, it boasts support for immersive audio, haptic feedback and fast charging. Its performance is sufficient for Android games on the 7-inch 1080p 120 Hz 10-bit HDR OLED panel, especially since the cooling is actively carried out by a fan. The 6,000 mA battery should last a while; power delivery and an external 4K display can be used via USB-C.

At first glance, it is impossible to think of anything other than the Steam Deck. And although there are coincidences both in aesthetics and in functionality with Valve’s device. Qualcomm’s proposal is unique in this case because it is not aimed at competing with products such as the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck.

Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gets games from the Google Play Store for Android in order to play them natively in a manner comparable to smartphones or tablets. Qualcomm also sees the handheld as a mobile game console for cloud gaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now and Google Stadia. In addition, Razer’s Developer Kit has been designed as a client for streaming local hardware such as a game console or a PC in the house.
